‘The Mirror’ Earns Top Film Award
FLORENCE – “The Mirror,” a film produced entirely
in the Shoals area, was the winner of Chicks with Flicks Film Fest
at the Pioneer Theater in New York.
Director, producer and writer Tonya S.
Holly received a film grant,
courtesy of Kodak Film, after the screening August 5.
“
This is such a great honor for me,” Holly said. “It is
truly a work of heart and was a total combined effort from everyone
involved.”
Holly also said that she could not have achieved this without the
full support of her cast, crew and the Shoals community. Over 100
businesses were utilized, as well as over 100 cast and crew.
“The Mirror” was inspired by Holly’s grandparents’ first
piece of furniture called the wedding dresser. The story follows
a newlywed couple and their six daughters, covering a time span of
1935 to modern day. It was at locations around the Shoals.
Her next film entitled “When I Find the Ocean” starring
Louis Gossett Jr., Naomi Judd, Richard Tyson and David Keith is scheduled
to start shooting in September in the Shoals area.
